Overview
Narrain Pastoral Company is a sixth-generation family-run grain farm, with their farms based at Oaklands but extend towards Savernake and Berrigan areas in NSW.
Their old system of numerous batch dryers was proving an inefficient process at harvest, so they wanted to upgrade their grain drying capacity with an Alvan Blanch DF25000 grain dryer.
The Challenge
As the capacity of the headers increased so did the requirement to become more efficient at the silo for storage, drying and unloading. Given the geographical location of Narrain Grain, if they can harvest a crop in a timely manner this would also present an opportunity to plant the next one into the irrigated paddocks. The drying process was key to the next step in harvesting efficiency.
The Solution
The Nixon family contacted Alvan Blanch Australia to learn more about their drying systems offered by Alvan Blanch and how they might help their operation. As corn was the main crop they wanted to dry, it was of the uttermost importance that the dryer could handle high-in moisture, maize and dry without ruining the structure or quality of the grain.
Alvan Blanch Australia worked with Narrain Grain, and it was agreed that the DF25000 dryer would best suit their needs and was the best at drying the harvested crop efficiently. Having the touchscreen monitor for the dryer was essential as it coupled to the handling equipment which made for a substantial grain storage and drying system.
The Outcome
Narrain Grain are happy with the dryer and the result from running their first 4,000 ton of corn through the dryer.
Alvan Blanch Australia said, “we really appreciate the social media feedback @narrain_grain and look forward to future posts”.
